As I write this, I am sitting at my desk in jeans and a t-shirt. It hasn’t snowed yet and it’s barely dipped below freezing. THIS is the kind of December I love. It’s also meant that my fall capsule wardrobe is still in my closet. I haven’t needed to switch it over to winter clothes just yet, but I’m starting to shop for any key items I need so I’m ready to go once the temperatures finally dip down to normal.
It’s also the holidays, which means lots of parties and even a date night or two. I asked my stylist for a little party-worthy bling as well as a couple of staples I could use in my winter capsule. I have to say, this Fix was amazing. The prices were right in my range, the pieces fit well (with one small exception), and the style was spot-on.
Enough rambling…let’s get to my December Stitch Fix review!
Wait. Before we start. Yes, that is crayon on my wall. No, I didn’t Magic Eraser that stuff off before I took photos. Do YOU clean your walls on a regular basis? Wait. Don’t answer that because you probably do.
Margaret M Francesca Pencil Skirt ($78)
How gorgeous is the color of this skirt? I loved the skirt hugged me in all the right places. I’m a huge fan of the pencil skirt and it was fun to try on a pencil skirt in a bright color. It was definitely unexpected, but I loved it. It’s a great way to work some color into a capsule wardrobe.
41Hawthorn Queensland Dolman Jersey Top ($48)
If this top were at Target, I’d be driving over there right now to buy it in every color available. It’s the perfect length to wear with leggings.
It’s soft and comfortable. I could see myself wearing this top over and over again and it would be a perfect addition to my winter capsule wardrobe.
Brixon Ivy Wald Embellished Neckline Blouse ($58)
This was the piece I was most excited to try on. I asked for some holiday bling and my stylist delivered! I love that she sent an ivory color vs black/red. The beading detail on the neckline is gorgeous and I love how the top flows. It would look amazing tucked in, too. I am thinking it would look perfect with the Margaret M Francesca Pencil Skirt.
There was one small problem…the arm holes. They were a bit too large for my comfort level. I don’t like my bra showing, and I’d have to invest in a different strapless to wear the top or have it altered to close the armholes. I did try it on at least half a dozen times, though, hoping I could make it work because it is a beautiful top.
Pixley Martina Slub Knit Open Cardigan ($48)
This cardigan was so soft and comfortable. It’s the perfect layering piece and it has POCKETS! I could definitely see myself getting a ton of use out of this cardigan all winter long. Because it’s black, I can easily dress it up or down. I paired it with the Brixon Ivy Wald Embellished Neckline Blouse for an easy holiday party look.
Brixon Ivy Jarred Lace Detail Cap-Sleeve Blouse ($68)
This was my favorite piece from my December Stitch Fix. I absolutely adore the lace detail on the top and back. It changes this from an ordinary black top to something extraordinary.
It can be dressed up, dressed down, tucked in, or left out. I’ve already received a ton of compliments on this top and I can’t wait to wear it all season long.
This is another top I’d love to own in a second (or third) color. Again, my stylist knocked this one out of the park. And this top just might be making a very special appearance at a certain movie this week. Stay tuned for my What I Wore post for details.
