I find it impossible to compare the Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resorts. While they share the Disney name, they are totally different experiences. Sure, you can compare attractions (Disneyland’s Pirates of the Caribbean, for example, blows Walt Disney World’s version out of the water) and accommodations (obviously Walt Disney World has more land to amp up their offerings), but I don’t believe you can actually say one resort is better than the other.
I’ll be heading back to the Disneyland Resort in just over a month for runDisney’s Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend and Dumbo Double Dare Challenge. While I’m (not-so) patiently waiting to go back (back) to Cali (Cali), I’m going to be sharing some of my favorite aspects of the Disneyland Resort.
Today, we’re talking entertainment. I truly believe one could spend an entire day at Disneyland Park and never go on an attraction and still feel like you’re getting your money’s worth.
One of my favorite sources of entertainment is in Disneyland Park’s New Orleans Square. The French Market, a counter-service restaurant, is home to daily live jazz music (check the Times Guide when you arrive for showtimes). Only at Disneyland can you grab a quick-service meal (on real plates, with real silverware no less), sit under a shady canopy, and listen to some fabulous music with the Rivers of Life just off in the distance. I could sit there for hours to listen to music and people watch.
Oh, and while you’re there, don’t forget to grab some Mickey-shaped beignets from The Mint Julep Bar, located in the garden terrace area at The French Market. I don’t drink my mint julep without Bourbon, but I hear the non-alcoholic version served here is yummy.
This is just one of the many places to catch live entertainment at the Disneyland Resort. It just happens to be my favorite, and it’s not just because I can stuff my face with beignets.
Do you have a favorite place to go for live entertainment at Disneyland (or Walt Disney World)?
