Friday Journal Vol. 2

Happy Friday, loves! I hope everyone has a fabulous weekend!

What Happened This week

We took a very last-second overnight camping trip on Sunday. There were s’mores made with peanut butter cups and lots of laughs. It was exactly what we needed before a whirlwind week of back-to-school fun. The kids are both settling into their new routines, and I’m settling into my new full-time job. It’s been a good week for everyone. We’re all tired and ready for a relaxing weekend of baseball and pool time.

What I’m thankful for this week

The Garth Brooks channel on SiriusXM. Seriously. It’s amazing. I’ve been listening to it non-stop today, and it just keeps getting better. Listening to Garth is about as close as you can get to heaven without going to church. Yes, my country is showing.

What I’m Reading

Reading Harry Potter
I have to admit I haven’t been reading much at all this week. I haven’t cracked open A Feast For Crows once. I did start reading Harry Potter with my oldest, though. It’s something I’ve waited a long time for, and I can not wait for her to lose herself in a world of magic. She was already enthralled after the first chapter. She wasn’t a fan of my accents. You win some, you lose some, I guess.

I love this review of Target’s Ava & Viv line from Long Story Short. Jessi’s roundup of Funfetti recipes is making me drool.

What I’m watching

Football, football, FOOTBALL IS BACK, YOU GUYS. Soon, hockey will be back, too, and I’ll be the happiest girl alive. Have I ever mentioned how much I love the last four months of the year? No? Well, I do.

What I’m looking forward to next week

In a nutshell: Target. A little birdie told me there’s a big style sale starting Sunday. $10 off $40 style purchases and a $5 gift card when you spend $20 on beauty products. PLUS Beautycounter for Target hits stores and online on Monday. I’m a little nervous about getting my hands on some of the BC products. I won’t be able to get to my Target until an hour after opening. Here’s hoping the store doesn’t get cleaned out!
I’m also working on my fall capsule wardrobe. For the first time ever, I’m going to create my entire capsule from Target. I have a few items from last fall/winter from Target I can still use, and this weekend’s style sale will make getting the other pieces I need a little easier. I’ll have a full rundown of my capsule as soon as it is all together. I typically switch to fall clothes in October when the temps finally settle down, but rebuilding a capsule will take me a little while, so I’m starting the process now.

Let me know what you’re up to this weekend or what you’re thankful for this week in the comments below! Happy weekend!
