We’re counting down to our Walt Disney World vacation. This year, we’re visiting during the start of the Disney Parks holiday season and we’ll be doing all sorts of great holiday-themed activities like attending Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party and the new Minnie’s Holiday and Dine before we check out The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights for the last time. We’ll also get to catch a glimpse of the Disney Parks Christmas Special taping! ALL THE HOLIDAY FUN!
I have used our original Disney vacation countdown wreath for a long time now and I decided to switch things up a bit. Really, it was just an excuse to put on some Christmas tunes, bust out my craft supplies, and get to work.
The best part about this Disney vacation countdown is it cost me nothing, but even if you don’t have the supplies on-hand you can make it for super cheap!
I had accidentally bought an extra copy of Andy William’s Christmas album (I have a slight addiction to Christmas vinyl and I often just buy every Christmas album I can get my hands on.) I drilled a hole in the top of the record for the garland, and I was ready to go! You can find used vinyl for under a dollar, especially at estate sales, yard sales, and local record stores. My local record store has a huge box of holiday vinyl I rummage through on every visit.
I reused the clothespins from my first wreath (clothespins are available at the Dollar Store or Target for cheap) and found the garland in my Christmas boxes (it was extra from my Candy themed holiday mantle.) The ears were traced from a Home Depot paint sample onto mid-century themed Christmas scrapbook paper and attached to the clothespins with glue. The only “special equipment” I used was a circle punch to cut out the numbers and circles for the backs of the clothes pins.
It’s the perfect kitschy, holiday-themed Disney vacation countdown and combines my biggest loves: mid-century design and Disney.
This is going to be the perfect way to countdown to our Disney Parks holiday vacation. I’m also going to convert it to our advent calendar for when we take on Truth in the Tinsel (affiliate link) again later this year. (See more about our Truth in the Tinsel experience here.) I’ll be sure to post the updated countdown as soon as it’s done.
