I stumbled upon Popbasic last month and instantly became intrigued by their premise: high-quality basics and on-trend pieces, curated into micro collections and delivered to your door. This isn’t a personal styling service. You pick what you want to order. While I love styling services, sometimes you just want what you want and don’t need to be surprised.
Popbasic offers several different ways to order their pieces: you can order certain items ala carte, like their perfect Le Breton boatneck tees (I want one in every color thankyouverymuch) and their 100% leather clutches that come filled with jewelry valued up to $100. The clutches are 9×13, making them perfect for work or play. Or, you can order a “micro collection”; a box with three items chosen to be worn together (or separate.) Microcollections are limited editions and typically include one or two pieces of clothing and one or two accessories.
Popbasic was nice enough to send me their Felicty Micro Collection. The Felicty included the Grey Forever Dress, Mixed Metals Necklace, and Luna Cuff. The micro collection sells for $70 and has a retail value of $100, making it a great value.
At first I was a little skeptical of the dress. I don’t typically wear a midi length (I’m on the shorter side at 5’4″) and the shape isn’t my typical silhouette. But, hey, wouldn’t you know? It’s kind of something Claire Underwood might wear and we all know my
slight (worrisome) obsession with her style.
After playing around with some accessories, I came up with these three easy ways to style the Felicity Collection from Popbasic, using items I already had in my closet:
1. For Work/Conferences:
2. Work to Date Night:
3. Every day:
For $70, I’d consider this Micro Collection to be worth it. I didn’t have to go to the store (saving time is the biggest bonus of all for me), the pieces can be used together or as separates, I can use the dress well into spring and again in the fall (think cardigan and boots), and the dress is well-made. I will say this dress definitely requires Spanx or some type of shape-wear as it shows every line, dimple, or bump and it does wrinkle easily, but it’s nothing that keeps me from loving the dress. I’ve already started stalking the website and Facebook page for more Micro Collections to be released and the Le Breton boatneck shirts will be mine.
If you’d like to try Popbasic, use my link and we’ll both get a $15 credit.
