Self-Care: Baths with Mr. Bubble

If you follow me on Instagram (what? you don’t? Let’s fix that, shall we?) and watch my Instagram stories, there’s typically one constant theme of my evening posts…the bathtub.

Taking a bath is my number one way of relaxing and winding down at night. I try and make time to take a bath at least 3-4 times a week, even if it’s only for 15 minutes. It’s the one place no one bothers me and I can zone out and do nothing for a little while.

The other part I love about baths? It’s the most affordable type of self-care there is. All I need is hot water and these three simple parts to create an everyday spa experience at home.

Mr. Bubble Self-Care Spa Day at Home

For me, it’s not a bath without bubbles. I have a stockpile of fancy bath bombs, bubble bars, and expensive bath oils. However, most of my baths consist of one thing: Mr. Bubble. Yes, $4 a bottle, smells like my childhood, pink liquid Mr. Bubble. It makes thick, long-lasting bubbles and never dries out my skin. ¬†Also, the fragrance is light so I can add a bath bomb for extra luxury and not have to worry about the scents overpowering each other.

I recently found out Mr. Bubble now has a Luxe line at Target and Ulta. I haven’t tried it yet, but you can bet I’ll be looking for it on my next trip. Maybe then I’ll let the kids have my jug of bubbles and I’ll keep the Luxe products all to myself.

After a day of noise from the kids, the news, and everything else I hear during the day, you’d think noise is the last thing I’d want while relaxing. But, I need something to drown out the noise of the dishwasher or dog barking. I turn my phone on silent and open Spotify. Here are a couple of my favorite playlists:

Drinks

I know the cliche is you’re supposed to have wine in the bath, but honestly? Drinking in a hot bath makes me feel lightheaded. Not something you really want to feel when you’re submerged in water.

Instead, I opt for flavored ice water. This water bottle from Target is amazing. I add cold water and whatever flavoring I want. Usually, it’s lemon. It’s the most refreshing when I’m relaxing in hot water, and I like to pretend it’s helping my body detox.
