Fitletic Ultimate II Running Belt Review

I purchased the Fitletic Ultimate II belt on my own.   Fitletic is graciously supplying the giveaway prize.

As I mentioned earlier this week, I finally run tested my new Fitletic Ultimate II running belt.  I promised you a full review, but now not only will you get a review, but thanks to the amazing folks at Fitletic, you’ll get a giveaway, too!

I have been trying to find a fuel/running belt I like for what seems like a year now.  My running drawer is filled with half a dozen different belts in all sorts of shapes and sizes.  I have three criteria that I judge every fitness belt by, and I had yet to find a belt which met all three:

1. Fit: Fits on waist without bouncing/chafing/weighing my shorts down.
2. Storage: Room for fuel, phone and ID/cash
3. Hydration option: The ability to add or remove hydration as needed for each run.

I found belts that had plenty of storage, but would bounce all over the place.  The belts I found that stayed in place didn’t offer the option to add hydration.

I had almost given up, but after some advice from my fellow runDisney-loving friends, I decided to go ahead and purchase an Fitletic Ultimate II Running Belt.

The Ultimate II Running Belt boasts the following features:

  • Neoprene Water resistant pouch – will fit most phones.
  • Vertical and horizontal elastic slots to hold up to five gels for easy access.
  • Additional side pocket perfect to hold an iPod, mp3 player, inhaler, house/car keys, sport beans, etc.
  • Inner pocket will keep your ID/credit cards safe and secure.
  • Reflective strips for night time safety.
  • Features two toggles to hold your race number.
  • One size fits all (adjustable).
  • Will not to bounce, ride up or chafe.
  • Hand washable – cold water – dry flat.

So, did the Ultimate II meet my three criteria?  (spoiler alert: YES)

1. Fit: the Ultimate II fits low and snug across my waist.  After 10 miles of running and tugging at the belt to remove the hydration bottle, the belt did not move.  I never had to push it back down or pull it back up.  The material is soft, did not cause chafing and not feel hot/sweaty at the end of my run.

2. Storage: The storage in the Ultimate II is fantastic.  I had room for my iPhone 5, iPod nano, gels, and ID/cash…with room to spare.  It was easy to get things in and out of the storage areas.  I appreciate having separate storage for my gels and phone (no one wants a GU-covered phone).  I love the second velcro pocket for my Sport Beans and/or keys/MP3 player.

3. Hydration: While the Ultimate II does not come with a hydration bottle, you can easily add one on.  I purchased a 6oz hydration bottle for my belt.   They also offer an 8oz option and you can order as a single or pairs.  The add-on slipped right onto the belt and it was easy to get the bottle in and out of the carrier.  I wear the bottle to the side, but it also works if you prefer to wear it on the back of the belt.  I appreciate the lack of caps/pop-up lid on the bottle.  I hate having to fuss with opening/closing bottles on a run.

The Ultimate II also comes with race bib holders.  This is particularly awesome for people like me, who, no matter what, end up stabbing themselves with safety pins and hate covering up their race costumes. Fitletic products also come in a great range of colors.  (I actually chose something other than pink for the first time ever).

I’ve been researching fitness belts lately, too – thanks for sharing your thoughts on the iFitness! From what I’ve seen, it’s the favorite belt of a lot of runners. I’d love to have an Ultimate II with the blue zipper to add to my running gear!

Interesting…I am trying to up my distance & have been thinking about carrying water. Also, with summer coming on I’d like to avoid tanlines from my armband. This could be a really good option.

I was just asking about fuel belts on Twitter! I have been looking at the iFitness belts longingly. 🙂 I have been looking at the pink or purple Ultimate II.

I was looking for something to put my phone in, especially that phones aren’t getting any smaller 🙂 I do like the add on for the water bottle which is a big plus for me. I would most likely choose the Ultimate II Running Belt with green zipper.

I could always use a new waterbelt. The Ultimate II looks awesome!

Now that it’s my first summer where I’m running longer runs, I’ve been looking at belts that have a hydration option. Love the Ultimate II – thanks for the very comprehensive review and video!

I’m in Florida and need to carry more than 6 oz. I’d really like to carry mroe than one bottle… so I’d probably go for another product with more water storage capability. :-)))

I’d love that belt.. I currently have the SpiBelt, but it is too small… need more room for gu and chomps. 🙂

  • Reply Kim Smelser June 12, 2013 at 11:46 pm

I have one of these and it is my FAV! The small one that doesn’t hold any water bottles… I get TONS of compliments at races – especially because it holds the race number. NO MORE PINS!

I’d love to try running with a belt! Been looking at options lately and this one looks awesome.

  • Reply Lynnette June 13, 2013 at 2:56 am

I would love to get the Ultimate II. I love my double pouch ifitness belt that I have, but it doesn’t have the cool bib holder on it! Plus I love the little gel holders on the side away from the electronics that I usually stuff into the pockets of my belt. I totally agree that this brand is super comfortable!

  • Reply Maria June 13, 2013 at 6:04 am

I would love the phone holder to go with my belt. I got the double pocket one and it is a tad small for my new phone. Just ordered two hydration bottles too!

  • Reply Trinity June 13, 2013 at 12:40 pm

With the way my neurologist talks about running, I love the idea of a hydration belt. But, this seems much cooler & it’s possible that if I had something like this, I’d actually start training for that half instead of just talking about it. And you’re my go to running gear blogger. 🙂

  • Reply JILL @MRScrashmattb June 13, 2013 at 1:17 pm

I’d also love to try the Ultimate II. I like having versatility of being able to add water or not. I currently have the Nathan “build your own belt” and like being able to take only what I need for each run, but the pouch isn’t waterproof.

  • Reply Diana June 13, 2013 at 2:35 pm

I love these belts! I have just the regular hydration belt from iFitness (only has one pocket, came with two bottles). They are phenomenal. I really dislike wearing anything around my waist while I run, the iFitness belt is the only thing I’ve been able to tolerate because it actually stays on my hips and never moves.

  • Reply Jenn June 13, 2013 at 2:43 pm

Super cute! I hate having anything around my waist (so vain), but this is a really nice looking fuel belt.

  • Reply Elizabeth June 13, 2013 at 6:00 pm

I’m running my first RunDisney event in Feb 2014 with the Princess 10K. Would love to try this belt at it…seems like the Mary Poppins belt–“practically perfect in every way!”

I love iFitness stuff! I have a couple of their other belts, but have actually been coveting the one you have (Ultimate II) because of all of the clever storage!

  • Reply Allie June 13, 2013 at 7:28 pm

What a neat device! I have never heard of this, but would love to try it. I am going to college next year and I hope to not gain the freshman 15 and if this would help me avoid it, I would try it.! Thanks for the information.
