Mid Century Modern Office Inspiration

I’m currently in the middle of an office renovation and, today, I’m sharing my inspiration for a Mid Century style office. Think Mad Men. Not Sterling Cooper’s office (because holy white on white, batman), but more Don. Lots of dark woods, accented with steel blue/grey, olive green, yellow, and burnt oranges.

So far, I have the walls painted (Prelude by Behr) and the desk. I’ve been scouring Estate Sales for the accent furniture. I found an amazing tube TV at a sale last weekend for all of $5 I’m wishing I would have purchased. While it wouldn’t be functional (and really, no one had a TV in their office), it would have made a great side table. I’m determined to have one room in the house that’s fully decorated and not a mish-mash of furniture, especially since I can lock the kids out of the office.

Of course, I have to have a little homage to my fangirl geeky side with the Mid Century-inspired Star Wars posters. I haven’t bit the bullet on the purchase yet, though. I’m still trying to decide if I want all three or just one (either New Hope or Empire Strikes Back). I’m also going to hang a few vintage ads in the room (think Pan-Am and Coke). Thank goodness for Etsy, y’all.

It’s driving me crazy to slowly decorate the room, but it will be worth it in the end. Here’s hoping I can score some great items at some Estate Sales this weekend.

Stay tuned for the progress photos!

I am loving that clock! It sounds like this is going to be a fantastic looking room when you get it finished. Can’t wait to see pics!
