Now that I’m doing a lot more style-related posts, I figured it would be fun to give you a little peek into my “style truths.” A little peek behind the curtain, if you will.
1. I don’t style new outfits every day. I am a serial wearer. If I find an outfit I like, I wear the hell out of it. That camo sweater from my January faves? I’ve probably worn it at least once a week since I’ve brought it home. I purchase tops in multiple colors so I can wear them more than once a week without it being too obvious. My wardrobe is fairly small, so it may seem like I shop a lot or have a ton of clothes, but I promise that’s not the case. My husband has the walk-in closet in our room. I have this:
2. But I do get dressed every day. If you see me in the grocery store or at school drop-off/pick-up, you won’t see me in my PJ’s or sweats. The only time you’ll see me out in public in workout clothes is if I’m actually going to work out. Yes, that means I take time every morning to pull on jeans and a sweatshirt or sweater before leaving the house for the five minute drive and two minute walk-up to the kid’s school. I am thankful this time of year allows me to hide my bedhead under a hat, though. (related: I don’t travel in sweats, either, but we’ve been over that before.)
3. I have no shame in my photo game. There are so many fashion/style/beauty blogs that I absolutely adore. And one of the main reasons I love a lot of those sites is because the photography is excellent. They may be cliché, but I love photos taken against bright pink walls and in the middle of a city street. They’re gorgeous. But, I don’t have help with taking photos and I’m too lazy to set up a tripod in the park so I can take my week’s worth of photos. I’m also way too self-conscious for that game.
Also, I forget to take photos. A lot. And then I remember after we get back from a party and I snap one on my old, streaky mirror and then realize I can’t really do anything with that because OMG look at the mess on my bedroom floor and I look like a minor co-star on hoarders. I’m working on it, though. (the photos, not the mess on my bedroom floor, although I should look into fixing that, too.) I have been trying to devise a better photo set-up to start using for my #YearofTarget posts. But, there will always be streaky mirror selfies. Always.
So there you have it. Three of my style truths. It isn’t always pretty, but it’s always me.
