Winter Candyland Mantel for Under $50

Originally posted on my former site MamaOfAllTrades.com

This is my first year having a real mantel to decorate for the holidays.  I spent way too much time on Pinterest, looking for Christmas mantel ideas and kept coming up short.  Everything was either too elaborate, too expensive, or needed a wider mantel to work.  I decided to work on an original design which would cost under $50 and come together to make a modern, fresh, fun look, perfect for the Christmas season.

I give you my Winter Wonderland-Candyland mantel!

The candle holders and candles have been on the mantel since we moved in.  I used glass vases and jars I had around the house.  The ornaments and garland were purchased for $1 each at AC Moore.  The only other purchased items were the candy (super cheap) and the styrofoam cones for the candy trees.  I had plenty of paper for the banner (I used my Stampin’Up! Big Shot Die Cutter for the banner shapes) laying around my office.  The total cost was well below my $50 budget.  In fact, I think it was closer to $30 when all was said and done.  Can’t beat that!

I really love the way it turned out!  It’s not overwhelming for our small mantel and living room space.  It’s bright and cheery, too.  I also love the retro, kitschy vibe it gives off, and we all know that’s my favorite style for the holidays.

Did you decorate your mantel for the holidays? I’d love to see your photos, too!  Leave me a comment with a link to your post or pin with your mantel decor.
